The bouncers are fairly rude here, but I'm disagreeing mainly because I've been to the Continental about a gazillion times and have never seen them get physical.  And while they're kinda rude, they don't reject people for ridiculous reasons (I mean, why would they? Have you seen the place?). They're just not friendly people. That said, if you're going to the Continental, you should know what you're in for. It is a dive and a half, with an unfriendly owner, unfriendly bouncers, an unfriendly barstaff, disgusting bathrooms and few redeeming qualities.  But it has the seedy charm of the 1980s/1990s Manhattan, and of course the 5 shots for $10.  If you're going there, it's because you're broke, or looking for a good bar to get liquored up at quickly before the real party starts. 

So if you're looking for a nice bar with a friendly staff, definitely avoid it. Otherwise, you'll be fine.

...I know I've already posted with a thumbs down, but I'm adding this with a thumbs up, since this is thumbwar of the day, in the hopes that the folks at the Continental see this, and take note of the fact that the entire staff needs a major attitude adjustment.

“Continental” is a very bad place to go! Bouncers are very discourteous, including the manager/owner. The bartenders are not friendly at all. The bouncers throw people out for no reason. The deal 5 shots for $10 sounds great but the shots ARE WATER DOWN.  Since we got there we were mistreated by the manager who snatched a chair from my friend. The bartenders were very rude and lie to the owner saying “that my friend grab her arm hard” all my friend did was touch her arm to get the bartender’s attention. The bouncers told us to go outside “to talk” and just like that we were thrown out of Continental bar.

I totally agree, this is the worst place I've ever been to...the staff is so rude! I guess they get so much business b/c of the great deal on drinks they have, but is that really worth being treated like crap?

This place is amazing regardless. 5 shots for $10? This is Manhattan...what a steal!

5 for $10 and you want friendly staff?  You get what you pay for (I'm sure a few of the people who go drinking there can match the staffs friendly quotient) so move on!  I'll go there for the special and avaoid the help.  Besides when someone includes "for no reason at all..." in their account - there's usually something they are leaving out.

People are right about the bouncers. Plus, the 5 shots for $10 is a good deal, but it seems to attract people who just want to get wasted, so it's hard to meet new people here.
